Breaking into the events industry in Australia is often difficult with established firms holding significant market share, and audience engagement experiencing frequent downturns. Blackout Events faced an uphill battle as a startup.

As a newcomer to Perth’s entertainment scene, Blackout Events entered the market with ambitious goals — to build a recognisable brand while promoting their flagship launch event, Blackout 2024. However, they faced a series of key challenges: minimal brand awareness as a fresh startup, no existing social media presence, the need to craft a distinctive visual identity, and the pressure to generate meaningful engagement and drive ticket sales. All of this had to be achieved within the constraints of a limited budget, while still effectively reaching their target demographic.

We understand that an event is more than just a night out —every detail needed to reflect bold energy, creativity, and a commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences.

To fulfil the vision of Blackout Events and drive the success of their upcoming launch, we adopted a dynamic, multiplatform strategy — building a strong presence primarily on Instagram and TikTok to maximise reach and relevance. Our high-level content approach focused on creating visually striking, on-brand material that captured the unique energy of both the event and its organisers. We developed a consistent visual identity and messaging framework to establish a recognisable and memorable brand, while implementing targeted follower acquisition tactics to grow an authentic, engaged audience. To deepen engagement, we introduced interactive content that encouraged participation and organic sharing. Finally, we collaborated closely with key stakeholders — including performing artists — to amplify visibility and extend our reach through their established communities.
